story exchange guide

1: make groups of three or four

2: decide who is going to be A, who B, and who C. (In a four-person group there will be a c1 and a c2.)

3: A, tell the others in your group a story about immigrants being abused or exploited while travelling to a new country. (The story should come from your own experience or the experience of someone you know well.)

4: B, repeat A’s story.

5: C (or C1 and C2), ask A questions about his or her story.

6: A becomes C (or C2), B becomes A etcetera and everything is repeated.

conversation guide 1

-as long as Great Britain, and other countries restrict immigration, immigrants will die trying to sneak across borders—and will be exploited in other ways by people smugglers.

-therefore all countries should remove immigration restrictions; people should be able to live wherever they want.

conversation guide 2

-the only way to prevent accidents like the one Percy Wacker was responsible for would be to search all trucks that cross international borders

-therefore, that should be done even though it would be expensive and would cause congestion. In other words, immigrants deserve to be protected even if doing so is expensive and inconvenient.

-however, the problem cannot be solved in this way because that would be too expensive and would cause too much congestion. In other words the idea is not good because it is impractical.
